Presentation of GIMP

GIMP, short for GNU Image Manipulation Program is a program which as the full name that is proposed for image manipulation.

GIMP is a great software, not to say open source, which implements all the functionality of the most popular Adobe Photoshop, only it does it for free.
GIMP is great for photo retouching, image composition and creation, it is compiled for various operating systems, making it portable to all effects.

GIMP encloses within it a countless number of features, which can be easily expanded by installing the plugin, also open source, which allow you to perform various operations on images.

This intervention is only the first of a long series, because GIMP is a very interesting, very good and especially at the professional level, and deserves considerable depth, but I try to understand better the potential of the software from two successive images.

In the first image, presented recently at a show I did nothing but pictures of a yellow, leaving the tree desaturated color and the background.

In the second picture I used a fake HDR filter, implemented by a plugin for GIMP.
The HDR (High Dynamic Range) lighting values can be very high and very low.
For the HDR requires a series of shots of the same subject carried out with different exposure, while these algorithms simulate this situation by creating HDR images also from individual images.
